Folklore Museum of Giannitsa

The Historical and Folklore Museum of Giannitsa was founded in October 1997 by the Historical and Folklore Society of Giannitsa.

In the first room of the museum you will learn about the development of the area from the prehistoric times to the Macedonian Struggle and the Battle of Giannitsa (1912). There is also a room with traditional costumes and a room with exhibits from the life of the people during the pre-war period. In the museum you will also see a living room which comes from the old mansion of Chatzidimitriou family. Finally, the last room houses a loom, textiles and embroidery.

In the corridor you can see newspapers, brochures and photographs of Giannitsa, including photos of the Mayors of Giannitsa from the day of the liberation of the city (1912) until today and photos of the Members of the Parliament from Pella.

The collections of the Historical and Folklore Museum of Giannitsa are constantly enriched thanks to the continuous effort of the people of the Historical-Folklore Company and the courtesy of the citizens of the region.

Entrance to the museum is free.
